Alternative assessments (tests) can include any means (other  than a traditional, standardized test) to evaluate student skill or understanding. These assessments are often evidence-based — with evaluation standards and measurement criteria used to score a student's demonstrated skill or a portfolio of work on a subject or learning domain. 

Each program determines criteria to measure student skill or subject understanding. This section describes activities related to managing alternative tests.
